Taco Bell has emerged victorious in the trademark dispute over the phrase “Taco Tuesday” with rival fast-food chain Taco John’s. Taco John’s has decided to abandon its federal “Taco Tuesday” trademark, which Taco Bell had sought to cancel, considering it a common phrase unfairly monopolized by Taco John’s. The CEO of Taco John’s announced that instead of fighting the legal battle, the chain will donate $100 for each of its locations to a nonprofit supporting restaurant workers in crisis and challenged Taco Bell to do the same.
